Choosing the best shingle + siding combination for your home
Siding and roofing isn’t exactly something you buy more than a couple times for your home. This can be quite expensive compared to other renovations you may make to your home, so you want to be sure you do it right. It’s almost like a formula. Not every roof color, siding color, and house style go together. With so many combinations and styles, take your time figuring which works for yours. Here are a few suggestions when going through this process.
Consider the style your home already exudes. Classic siding colors like white, light grays or yellow go best with Victorian and Colonial style homes. If you prefer something more colorful while still neutral on this type of home we recommend tans, creams, and dark blues. Many contemporary homes look nice no matter the color, which allows more freedom to do what you like.
Take a walk around the neighborhood, and look for inspiration. Walk or drive through your neighborhood and see what color combinations you think would work and don’t with your home. It’s best to look at homes that share a similar structure with yours, so if you have something less traditional, you may want to steer clear of more classic homes.
Take your landscaping into consideration. For the homeowner who appreciates a well-groomed front, flush with trees, flowers, or bushes then consider what color will be complimentary. Neutral tones go best with homes that have many trees and darker plants. If your home gets an abundance of light daily, you may wanna consider bright colors
Don’t contrast too much from your neighbors. Being unique is always a plus. However, it’s not always best to stick out too much in your neighborhood. We understand if you don’t want to be uniform with the other homes in your neighborhood, but if your home sticks out too much, it could affect your resale value. It’s always great for homes to compliment each other without being exactly alike.
Know what your colors look like at different points of the day. Look at each color in the morning, day, and at dusk/night to see if they hold up to what you like. Make sure you do this outside every time. Natural light can seriously change the way a color looks.
